Seeking a wood shop assistant who has experience working in a wood shop setting. Preferably you have wood finishing experience. You will be responsible for helping build cabinetry, stain / finish wood cabinets/furniture, helping install projects and help with general upkeep of the wood shop. Must have experience using machinery and shop tools. Must have positive attitude and be flexible to help with different tasks as needed.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have legal work documents and be drug free. A background check will be done. Must speak, read and write English. Must be able to do basic math and also willing to train to read technical drawings. Must be able to lift and carry up to 65 pounds.(If you don't meet these requirements, do not apply). Skill operating wood shop machines and hand power tools.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Skill in the application of stains, dyes, conversion varnish and waterborne cabinetry coating. Color matching skills a plus. Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience either working in a spray booth facility, furniture refinishing shop or experience with onsite finishing of quality custom cabinetry. The ability to work with minimal guidance after you learn our methods is the goal.
WORKING CONDITIONS: We are looking for the right person to grow with our business. The right attitude is important as your skills. We are willing to train the right person. Punctuality and dependability are very important to us. Hours are typically 7:00AM to 4:00 PM, Contract part-time basis at first with room to grow, Monday through Friday with occasional overtime or weekend work for installing or finishing up big projects. Pay will be based upon experience. There will be a trial period.
Pay depends on experience. Likely starting wage to be $13 per hour. Higher pay for advanced skill set.
